School Project in Desarmes, Haiti
At Children’s World Impact, we continue to be dedicated to the schooling of orphans and children in Haiti who have little chance of receiving a quality education. Through a connection with Schools4Haiti, another 501(c)(3) organization in Wisconsin, we were able to start the financing of a second elementary school in October of 2016. This school is located in Dearmes, Haiti, a city located in the Central Plateau, about 60 miles from Port au Prince and 25 miles from Mirebelais, the location of the first school financed by CWI.
A local Haitian pastor, Anold Saint Louis, runs the school and a small orphanage. Currently, nearly 300 students meet under tin roofs that extend from the two dormitory buildings of the orphanage, surrounded by torn tarps for walls. When completed, the new school building will be a two-wing structure with 8 classrooms, along with a separate building for storage and administrative offices.
The students who attend the school are orphans who reside in the dorms, many of whom were sent to Pastor Anold after the earthquake of 2010, as well as local children from Desarmes. While Children’s World Impact is financing the construction of the building, Schools4Haiti covers all expenses for the running of the school, including teacher salaries, curriculum, school uniforms, and supplies.

New Home for Single Mother of Four
In addition to the school construction project, Children’s World Impact is also financing the building of a home for a single mother of four children. Members of the board of directors of CWI met and became acquainted with this woman in the summer of 2015. After sitting down with her, listening to her story, and learning of her circumstances, we committed to help her get a legal i.d. card, purchase a plot of land, and build a modest home for her and her four children. Like our school project, this home is being built by Haitian labor, thus providing employment for many who would otherwise be without a job. The two men pictured in the photo to the left are the builder (orange vest) and the person who is overseeing the project.
